Polyanionic Cellulose Polymer (LV) – High-Efficiency Fluid Loss Additive

Innova Corporate (India) is a premier manufacturer and global supplier of Polyanionic Cellulose Polymer (LV). Commonly known as PAC-LV, this low-viscosity polymer is a high-performance additive specifically engineered to reduce fluid loss and inhibit scale formation in water-based drilling muds. It is readily dispersible in systems ranging from fresh water to saturated salt water, making it a versatile choice for complex drilling environments.

Key Technical Features:

  • Filtration Control: PAC-LV is a low-yielding polymer that effectively reduces API filtration rates without causing a significant increase in the fluid's plastic viscosity.
  • Shale Inhibition: It provides excellent shale stabilization by encapsulating drilled cuttings and protecting the borehole from swelling and sloughing.
  • Thermal Stability: Lab tests confirm that our PAC-LV remains stable in temperatures up to 300°F (149°C), ensuring performance in deep-hole drilling operations.

Applications & Operational Range:

Innova’s PAC-LV is successfully applied in fresh water, sea water, and KCl-weighted drilling fluids. Its effectiveness is closely linked to its presence in the water phase and its absorption on solids. To maintain optimal rheology and fluid loss control, periodic replacement of the polymer is recommended to compensate for losses on drilled cuttings during the circulation process.

Performance & Treatment Guide:

  • Typical Formulation: In a base fluid of sea water with 10 ppb bentonite and barite (density 1.4), PAC-LV maintains high integrity even after being aged at 185°F (85°C).
  • Mixing Instructions: For maximum dispersion, PAC-LV should be added through the hopper at a rate of approximately 20 minutes per sack. Recommended dosage levels typically range from 0.5 to 2.5 ppb.
